Mindfulness
Mindfulness is recognised within the NHS as a way of alleviating anxiety, depression and stress.
Mindfulness is a way of taking back control of your thoughts so that you are no longer overwhelmed by them. It can prevent you jumping straight into a situation without being able to stand back and make a sound and thoughtful decision before acting.
It is simple, accessible, and readily achievable in our everyday lives. It enables us to be “mindful” of each moment rather than chasing ahead on thought loops which can be painful and destructive to us and those around.
It is hard to think straight, make decisions and get on with life when your head takes you somewhere else all the time. Mindfulness helps with this, can give clarity and insight and a far calmer and accepting way of living.
Mindfulness although simple, is not easy, this is because we are entrenched in automatic thinking processes hammered into our brain’s structural physiology through repeated use. It therefore requires repeated practice over time to influence neuroplasticity (the brains ability to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience).
Everyone benefits from mindfulness! However, people who find themselves in highly anxious or stressful situations or lifestyles, people with depression or low mood. It can help with relationships, illness, pain (physical and emotional). Benefits include-

Group drop-in sessions
Experience the benefits of mindful practice in a relaxed group setting. Each session explores a theme, using a mixture of discussion, reflection, stories and poems, together with simple practices that focus the mind and relax the body.
The aim? To provide you with space and time to develop your own ‘toolkit’ to support yourself in day-to-day life
Group activity can motivate us and reinforce our commitment to practice. Sharing our experience on a learning journey with others helps us to learn from others and recognise we all have moments of self-doubt when learning a new skill. As well as a sense of belonging to a community, our group education sessions allow for deeper enquiry following practice and foster deeper connections to our true self and with those around us.
